“marriage equality”

A while back, I consciously thought about why I just didn’t give crap about gay marriage, and it really didn’t take long to figure out. It seems symbolically nice, but is not be the most urgent issue. It has always seemed like distant hoopla. Most of the queer people I knew/knew of growing up were poc youth who were chucked out/homeless and for whom hate crimes were a concrete threat. So pardon me if I don’t think that shit is terribly pressing. I really could care less about about an issue spearheaded primarily by a bunch of people who simply want the one last privilege keeping them from seamless membership in the ruling class.
